Why sponsor ALSA?

ALSA needs sponsorship to support and represent Australian law students

As the national association responsible for promoting the interests of, communicating with and facilitating the communication between all Australian law students, ALSA has many operating costs.

In terms of advocating for the interests of law students, ALSA endeavours to be an active and present voice on all relevant national bodies including the Law Council of Australia and the Australian Council of Law Deans. Further, where possible, ALSA meets with relevant Ministers, Members of Parliament and policy makers in advancing the interests of Law students. Sponsorship is essential to enabling this type of effective advocacy.

ALSA plays a unique role in organising one of the largest student conferences in Australia. This involves numerous competitions, forums, keynote speakers and social events. Sponsorship enables ALSA to lower the cost of this conference, making it accessible to a broader cross-section of law students. Further, the winners of the national competitions (specifically Mooting, Negotiation and Witness Examination) are then able to represent Australia at the World Championships. ALSA's capacity to financially support these individuals in getting to the World Championships depends on sponsorship.

Finally, ALSA supports law students and law student societies through a variety of direct methods from publications and a shared competition questions database to the provision of materials for Orientation weeks across the country.

ALSA has access to many law students and the best law graduates

Sponsoring ALSA has many benefits. In general terms, as the national association with every Law Student Society/Association in Australia as members, the reach of ALSA is extensive. Sponsoring ALSA enables access to every law school in the country and up to 28,000 law students. This access flows through ALSA's heavily used website, national publications and newsletters and national competitions, councils and conferences.

Further to ALSA being able to reach all law students, it also operates such that it is exposed to many of Australia's best prospective graduates. In terms of competitions this is a result of facilitating competition between the best mooters, negotiators, advocates and more from each law school in the country. These are typically highly sought after graduates.

In terms of council, three times each year ALSA brings together all of the Presidents of all Law Student Societies/Associations in Australia, as well as ALSA representatives and various Vice-Presidents. These meetings involve direct access to all of these people who are engaging in all that ALSA does. This creates a magnificent opportunity for especially targeted sponsorship at this group.

ALSA is an organisation that is growing and building upon many years of development. In order to take the step into being a truly comprehensive and effective national advocate for Australian law students, ALSA needs widespread sponsorship. Sponsors can further enable ALSA to support the national champions of law competitions, support law student societies/associations and provide a variety of direct services. Sponsors can access a comprehensive national network of not just all law students, but also some of the most sought after graduates.
